In 2007-2009, the Office of Alternative Dispute Resolution provided free collaborative divorce training to a number of professionals - lawyers, mental health professionals, and financial planning professionals - who have agreed to provide a certain amount of free out-of-court services to qualifying couples. Both spouses must be willing to participate. To schedule an appointment or to learn more, send an email to collablaw@courts.state.ny.us or call (212) 428-5592.
Note: Referrals will not be made to either collaborative law or divorce mediation where one spouse cannot locate the other, or in cases involving domestic violence or child abuse.
If you are not income-eligible for free services, you may want to contact a private sector collaborative practitioner.
