Part 5Z has adopted the Kings County Uniform Matrimonial Rules. All submitted motions shall be made returnable on Tuesdays only, unless otherwise directed by the court.
All communication regarding matters scheduled in this Part should be directed to Part 5Z via email – kingsmat5z@nycourts.gov. All correspondences should include all parties, attorneys, attorneys for the child(ren) and if applicable, GALs.
No case may be adjourned in this Part except by application to the court. Adjournments will only be granted in exceptional circumstances. Requests for adjournments must be made either via e-mail to the Part or via telephone with all attorneys included in the correspondence/call. Upon approval, a stipulation to adjourn MUST be filed on NYSCEF.
When appearing in person, all parties and attorneys must check in with the part clerk upon arrival in the Part.
When appearing virtually and/or in-person, it is expected that all attorneys, and their clients, adhere to professional standards regarding formal appearances, which require appropriate attire and decorum.
All attorneys must include an email address on his/her/their Notices of Appearance.
Any requests to appear virtually must be made at least five (5) days in advance of the scheduled court date. Any party appearing virtually must make every effort to appear from a quiet and appropriate location without visual and auditory distractions.
Consumption of food and beverages (except water) during in-person and virtual appearances is prohibited.
